Duration: 2 years part-time

Pre-Requisites
  • Applicants for the course will need to have attended regular yoga classes for a minimum of 2 years or be doing their own personal practice.
  • Attending intermediate/experienced classes at the F.Y.C. will be necessary to assess suitability for course
  • Interested persons will also need to meet with Kale (the course facilitator) to go through the course requirements.

    What The Course Will Cover
  • Developing a deeper understanding of the yoga postures
  • Formulating your own practice
  • Yoga theory and philosophy
  • Teaching techniques
  • Learning correct method of adjustment
  • Therapeutic application of the postures for specialized problems
  • How to teach pregnancy yoga
  • The use of yoga props
  • Breathing and relaxation techniques
  • Communication skills - how to communicate the postures to students
  • Introduction to Ayurveda and how it relates to yoga

    You Will Need To Do The Following
  • Develop personal yoga practice
  • Attend intermediate and/or experienced class at least once a week
  • Learn/Assist in one beginners class per week
  • Learn/Assist in one therapy class per week
  • Observe/Assist in one pregnancy/womens class per month
  • Attend Open Forum/Tutorial Session for Teacher Trainees one Saturday of each month at 2:30pm, which will focus on theoretical and practical aspects of yoga teaching
  • Note Taking will need to be done throughout the course
    An Anatomy and Physiology course will need to be completed during the two year training
    A basic first aid course is also advisable
    A certificate will be given on sucessful completion of the course
